The poem Santa’s Aching Back shows Santa as he sloshes, slips and slides along roof tops carrying his bag of presents for good little boys and girls.  He strains up chimneys and we see how he feels about the quick trip from chimney to hearth.  We see what it's like riding in a sleigh a thousand times faster than the fastest cars. Christmas Eve has perils and pains about which Santa occasionally complains, but there are benefits to North Pole living; it snows but it never rains.
